AchieveAbility works to break the cycle of poverty by helping single-parent, low-income families so they can pursue higher education and achieve self-sufficiency.

AchieveAbility provides housing and supportive services and works to build stronger communities.

Description:
AchieveAbility is a nonprofit organization working to
permanently break the cycle of poverty for low-income, single-parent, formerly-homeless families
through education, social services, community and economic development, housing and accountability.

Education is the key to self-sufficiency and we encourage families to stay in the program until they have earned a bachelor's degree or the equivalent.

History:
AchieveAbility was incorporated in 1981 and was established by business leaders, Sisters of Mercy and homeless women to be a next step for single parent, homeless families moving out of shelters and seeking to become self-sufficient.

From the first four houses donated by Mercy Hospital in 1983, AchieveAbility has since developed 174 homes and continues to develop more housing. These homes serve as the springboards to self-sufficiency and success for AchieveAbility clients. The organization changed its name to AchieveAbility in 2004.
