The goal of the Hospice of Philadelphia is to alleviate suffering in those who are facing the end of life, and their family members. Working as a team, we provide nursing, social work, chaplaincy, VOLUNTEER, home health aide and bereavement support so people going through this difficult time have the services and support they need. Hospice of Philadelphia is a coordinated program of services that enables persons with serious, progressive illness to live fully and comfortably in their homes. Patients who live in a nursing home or personal care facility can also receive hospice services.
Description:
Hospice of Philadelphia is a division of the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia which provides comprehensive home health care including skilled nursing, physical therapy aides, infusion care, psychiatric nursing, maternal/child health, pediatric, geriatric, AIDS, hospice, home delivered needs and adult day care.
History:
Established in the 1880's, The Visiting Nurse Association is the oldest non-profit home health agency in the Greater Philadelphia Area. Through polio and TB epidemics, through societal and governmental indifference and interference, through terrible weather and times of war, the VNA has always fulfilled its mission, "our workers promise their strength and skill." Identifying problems is easy, solving them requires a family partnership between staff and volunteers. The Hospice of Philadelphia was established in 1993 and follows in these footsteps of dedication and care.
