A local, full-service, non-profit home care agency providing the following services to the community since 1912:

Adult Home Care provides
care for adult patients recovering from surgery, chronic or acute conditions.

Maternal/Child Health provides support for
High-risk Pregnancy,
Postpartum Care, and
Lactation Consultation.
Physical Therapy,
Speech Therapy,and
Occupational Therapy assisting patient to return to maximum quality of life.

Senior HealthLink is a
free outreach to seniors in the community.

PersonalCare services provide
Private duty aides,
Companionship with personal hygiene needs,and
Light housekeeping duties.

Hospice Care provides end of life care to those with a life-limiting illness and

Bereavement Support,
Volunteer Program,
Caregiver Support,
Pet Therapy.

HISTORY:
In 1912 nine Wayne, PA women joined together under the Neighborhood League name to promote moral, social and physical betterment of the community. In 1915 the Neighborhood League was incorporated. The agency continued to grow and today provides a full array of services to Chester County, parts of Montgomery, Delaware and Lancaster Counties. All services are provided regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, nation of origin, handicapped condition or disability. Donations, memorial gifts and United Way funding help us to provide services to persons with no or inadequate health insurance.

From South of West Chester: Take Route 202 North; approximately 6 miles after crossing over Route 1, bear right at the Holiday Inn (West Chester Bypass). Exit at Paoli Pike; at the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Paoli Pike (the West Goshen Shopping Center will be on your right). Turn right at light on Montgomery Avenue (McDonald's will be on your right)Proceed to the next light, left onto E. Marshall, left on Convent, take left and immediate right into the parking lot. From North of West Chester: Take Route 100 south through the intersection of US Route 30 in Exton. Approximately 1.5 miles south of the intersection of Routes 100 and 30 (stay in the right lane) bear right onto the exit ramp for West Chester. Proceed south for approximately 3 miles to the third stoplight, turn left onto East Marshall Street. Overall Experience   
I could not have possibly envisioned that my three planned months with hospice would voluntarily develop into a three-year time commitment, and that this venture would make an indelible impact on my life, as well as, hopefully, on the lives of others.

Neighborhood Hospice is a hospice organization. The agency coordinates a large pool of volunteers, nurses, doctors, specialists, family, and patients. Through hospice, I have learned how to talk with different kinds of people, but more importantly, I have learned to listen. Also, my level of patience has increased significantly as a result of volunteering, as I have gained the ability to relate with people, even if they appear unable to comprehend a word I say. posted by Freethrw33 on June 19, 2004

Overall Experience   
One of the most gratifying things I've ever done.

Having been a volunteer with the Neighborhood Health Agency exposed me to a world I did not know much about, and that is the world of hospice and volunteering. I got to meet interesting people and listen to their life stories. Although many of the people I met were nearing the end of their lives and had all sorts of ailments they still had much to talk about. For anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of another, volunteering is definitely the way to go. It shows that you care for others and are willing to make sacrifices. Overall Experience   
I got to help people in need of it and make some friends along the way. I will never forget it.

I gained a sincere appreciation for volunteer organizations and the people who put all that time and effort into running them. I know that my experience has been worthwhile and meaningful and I thank Hospice for giving me that opportunity.
