To preserve the properties, records and artifacts; to interpret the history; and to educate the public.
Description:
The Chadds Ford Historical Society was begun in 1968 when civic-minded individuals banded together to save the John Chads House, a circa 1725 home, from impending sale and possible destruction. This was followed by the acquisition of the Barns-Brinton House, a circa 1714 colonial tavern, in 1969. The Chadds Ford Historical Society offers educational programs and tours to visitors at the historic houses. Additionally, the Society offers exhibits, a Spring Lecture Series, and other educational opportunities at its Barn Visitors Center. The Chadds Ford Historical Society funds many of its educational programs through annual community events such as Chadds Ford Days, the Great Pumpkin Carve and Candlelight Christmas.
