The mission of the Chester County Health Department is to promote, protect, and preserve the health and environment of the residents of the County of Chester.
Description:
The Chester County Health Department is mandated to deliver public health and environmental services within the 760 square mile area that encompasses Chester County, PA. Services provided by the Department are available to County residents regardless of race, color, religious creed, ancestry, national origin, age, handicap, or sex. Volunteers assist staff in a variety of general office duties or occasionally on specific program tasks according to their qualifications and the need.
History:
The Chester County Health Department was created by popular referendum in November 1966 and began operations in May, 1968 under the PA Local Health Administration Law, Act 315, P.L. 1304. The Department is divided organizationally into 3 functional Bureaus, whose specific programs and services result in the attainment of Bureau-level goals, thereby combining in complementary and supplementary fashion into the aggregate attainment of the overall Department mission.

From Route 202 take the Westtown Road exit. At bottom of the exit ramp turn west and go about 200 yards. On right (opposite the "auto-mall") is the entrance-way for the Government Services Center parking lot.
