Help make a difference in someone's life while changing your perspective on your world! Help prison inmates acquire decision-making skills and assist them in setting goals and getting control over their lives.
Description:
Volunteers from the community are trained to teach decision making skills in a one on one situation with volunteer prison inmates at Chester County Prison outside of West Chester PA. Each teaching cycle lasts for 8 weeks and volunteers meet with their students once a week during this time. There are 3 teaching cycles per year. The volunteer-teacher training for the fall cycle is scheduled for the weekend of September 20th and 21st, 2008. After attending the Thresholds weekend training course, the volunteer-teacher will be able to help an inmate learn how to make better choices in life.

History:
Thresholds was founded 35 years ago by an ex-offender named Mickey Burglass who, while incarcerated, realized that despite the many programs for literacy and substance abuse, there was nothing that taught an inmate how to think rather than react. The program has been in Chester County Prison for over 30 years.
