The West Chester Area Day Care Center’s Mission is as follows: We provide a quality early childhood education program that develops children emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically in a safe and nurturing environment. We will offer affordable childcare to all parents especially those with the greatest financial need.
Description:
We serve the needs of our parents by keeping our rates the lowest in the area. We accept all forms of subsidized day care, we do not limit the enrollment of children receiving subsidies, we offer scholarships to eligible families and we provide children with nutritional breakfasts, lunches, snacks and infant formula at no cost to parents.
The Center offers a before and after school program and a summer program for children in first grade through twelve-years-old which includes homework monitoring and care for days off throughout the school year.
We serve the needs of our children by offering one of the finest early-childhood education programs in our community. We acknowledge that children learn through a variety of ways. We, therefore, see our role as fostering quality learning opportunities and making each experience a meaningful part of the important preparation for elementary school and life as a young child. Our staff is well qualified, experienced and include degreed teachers for the pre-school classrooms. We have dedicated and experienced teachers whose credentials meet or exceed state regulations. We also pride ourselves on a very low teacher turnover rate, which provides children the continuity of care they need to excel and feel cared for. We recognize that parents are the first teachers and we value a strong, working relationship with each family. We welcome all families to be an integral part of our Center’s family.
History:
The West Chester Area Day Care Center was established in 1962 to provide quality, affordable childcare for working parents, parents attending school or for families who were in crisis situations. The Center was originally located in the Chestnut Friends School and then moved into its current building on Nields Street in 1969. In 1985, the building was expanded, doubling our square footage and doubling the number of children we could serve. We have grown from serving 5 children in 1962, to serving, on an average, 100 children in 2007.
