To provide a helping hand to low-income Chester area residents by distributing emergency or supplemental food and supplies.
The Center also offers educational, spiritual and advocacy programs to help clients build better lives for themselves, their families and communities.

Description:
Distribute emergency/supplemental food on Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and the 2nd & 4th Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m.
Distribute infant formula and diapers by appointment.
Provide meals during our West Side Brunch on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. These brunches offer socialization opportunities for those persons who come to share meals together. Staff and volunteers prepare meals.
Offer Parenting Classes, English as a Second Language, and Computer Classes.

History:
The Bernardine Center opened on February 14, 1986 as an Emergency Food Cupboard. The model SuperCupboard program was designed in 1987, and has been copied throughout PA.
Throughout the years the Center has provided targeted programming to address short-term needs, and help provide for the long-term needs of the families and individuals seeking our help.
The Center is a member of Philabundance Food Bank, and a founding member of Delco Interfaith Food Assistance Network.

 From 95S exit on Highland Ave. Follow the ramp around to the right and continue south on Highland Ave. At the light at 9th St. make a left. Continue a block and a half to the Center. It is on the right side of the road, across from Community Hospital of Chester.
