The mission of Vita Education Services is to provide Bucks County residents with free educational programs which enable them to reach their individual goals.
Description:
Literacy and decision making services are provided to Bucks County adults in the community and the Bucks County Correctional Facilities through Vita's two programs: The Literacy Center of Bucks County and the Center for Personal Decision Making (PDM). The Literacy Center provides instruction through classes and trained volunteer tutors in basic literacy, GED preparation, and English as a Second Language programs. The Literacy Center serves adult learners in the lower part of the county through its location at the Bensalem Family Resource Center, 2546 Knights Road, Bensalem. The Family Literacy Program, which is designed to provide intergenerational learning experiences for families and is facilitated by staff, is offered to families in Bensalem and Bristol Borough. The Personal Decision Making program is offered to incarcerated adults one-on-one by trained volunteers and in small groups led by professional staff.

In 1971,Vita began as an all-volunteer program, training tutors to teach decision making to adults in the criminal justice system. Incorporated in 1975, Vita expanded its programs to include literacy tutoring for criminal justice clients. In 1984, the literacy program was expanded to include all county residents.
