Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County's (HFHNCC) mission is to build affordable housing at no-profit through a combination of volunteer labor, "sweat equity," and no-interest mortgages.

Description:
We act in partnership with the local community as a diverse group, including individuals, partner families, faith groups, civic organizations, and businesses. We reach out from Christian roots across denomination, faith, economic, and racial lines to bring together people who are concerned for their neighbors. We strive to develop and empower individuals and communities through the construction of simple, decent homes.

Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with families in need. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience the joy of helping a family to realize their dream of home ownership.

History:
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County was established in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. HFH International was founded in 1976 and now has over 1,600 affiliated projects in the United States and more than 250 projects in other countries.

To date, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County has completed over 90 homes in 19 years. We are currently the 5th largest affiliate in the Northeast (of 210 affiliates from Delaware to Maine) in terms of housing production. In 2006, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County will be celebrating 20 years of building affordable housing with local families in need.
