To provide decent shelter for families in need, while promoting community development in neighborhoods. MCHH builds in Camden County, specifically in the Cooper Plaza (behind Cooper Hospital) neighborhood of Camden. Volunteers help to rehab/build the homes with Partner Families in the homeownership program, as well as help out in all other areas of the organization.

Description:
Metro Camden Habitat for Humanity (MCHH)is part of Habitat for Humanity International. Both organizations seek to eliminate substandard housing by building or rehabbing simple decent shelter for families in need. Habitat uses the economics of Jesus and applies them to how the families are selected and how the homes are purchased: 0% interest with a 20 year mortgage, and when resources are offered, they are not to be hoarded but rather to be put to immediate use. Habitat is composed of many volunteers who make up the backbone of the organization. Not only do volunteers build the homes, but they are also on the committees that make the decisions and execute the operations behind the scenes.

History:
MCHH has been in Camden since 1986 and has rehabbed 44 homes in that time (as of 4/07). Future plans include building additional 20 new-construction houses on vacant lots in Cooper Plaza as well as to continue rehabbing the vacant houses in the neighborhood.
