To educate and bring awareness of the incidence and treatment of stroke to the community. Develop a system of rapid transport and delivery of stroke patients by EMS to hospitals prepared to treat stroke. Encourage stroke patients to participate in clinical trials. Communicate the advances being made in stroke research to health care providers and managed care organizations. Establish a platform of patient advocacy on behalf of stroke patients and their families and/or caregivers. Form a consensus on how stroke should be assessed and treated in the Greater Delaware Valley.
Description:
Strides for Strokes Walk-Run-Bike looking for volunteers and walkers for June event. Will be doing stroke screenings at this walk. The event time is from 8 am to Noon with free refreshments at the Parkway.
History:
Delaware Valley Stroke Council is a non-profit organization founded in 1995. It is our mission to raise public awareness and elevate the level of stroke care. Originally founded as a group of Neurologist and other Health Care Professionals, it now has a broad base of support and has grown into a grass roots organization.
