The purpose of Junior Achievement is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives.

Description:
For students in grades K-6, JA teaches the relevance that education has to their future in the workplace. For students in grades 7-9, JA teaches concepts related to financial literacy, drop out prevention, entrepreneurship, and international business.

Exchange City is JA's newest program for 4th-8th grades. It is a 6 week business education program which culminates to a visit to a bustling indoor city for kids. For an entire day, students operate businesses, take out and repay loans, get paid, and create and sell products.

For students in grades 9-12, JA offers an accredited economics class, career planning and preparation program, student run company and international business exchange experience.

History:
Founded in 1919, JA is the oldest, largest and fastest growing organization providing economic education to youth. It began as the Student Company, an after-school high school program in which students created their own company with the help of a JA advisor. Today, JA is taught during the school day and is K-12. Our volunteers include business people, college students and parents. The Delaware Valley Chapter has been in existence since 1950.
