Junior Achievement prepares students to succeed in life by providing them with a unique educational foundation in both business and economics.
Description:
Junior Achievement partners with volunteers from the community to teach students about their future roles as individuals, workers and consumers. These students gain Confidence, Competence, Character- that’s the JA Advantage. Our volunteers prepare over 26,000 elementary, middle, and high school students for key ethical, economic and workforce issues throughout the state of Delaware; Cecil County, Maryland; and Salem County, New Jersey.
History:
JA of Delaware was started in 1956 as a franchise of Junior Achievement Inc. Students in both curricular and extra-curricular programs have learned about business, economics, finance, workforce success skills and lifelong learning in award winning programs that always use a community volunteer. We have been recognized by the Delaware Chamber of Commerce, DANA, the Points of Light Foundation and our own national organization for educational excellence. We are governed by a 33 member board of directors and operate solely on contributions.
