History:
The Hunting Park Community Development Corporation (HPCDC) is a 25 - year old, community-based non-profit organization whose mission is to revitalize the Hunting Park neighborhood of eastern north Philadelphia.

HPCDC was established in 1980 out of a series of community planning workshops held over a six month period. These workshops were attended by over 300 community residents who actively participated in the identification and prioritization of issues and programs. At the conclusion of these seminars, a volunteer Board of Directors was elected. The organization became incorporated, received its tax exempt status and hired its first staff of two during 1981 -82. the agency's current Executive Director served as a VISTA volunteer during the agency's founding period.

In 1980 Hunting Park CDC instituted the Housing Program. Project Youth Lead was started in 1992. The newest program, CitySTARS was implemented in 2001.
