Saint John's seeks to be a community grounded in faith and service where homeless persons find dignity, respect, nourishment and opportunities for new beginnings.
Description:
The day-service program engage men living on the street through: 1.weekday lunch and holiday meals; 2. clothing and showers. 3. Post Office Box service; 4. brief case management services. The residential program provides shelter for 40 residents with goal-oriented case management, life skills education, and support development. The Good Shepherd program provides housing for medically fragile men, with intense case management to guide each resident to a successful recovery.
History:
St. John's opened its doors in 1963 under the direction of the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd. These brothers were brought to Philadelphia on the invitation of the Most Reverend John J. Kroll and Monsignor Anthony O'Neill.
