ASAP was created to be a catalyst to engage Philadelphia in a broad campaign to increase supervised, after school programs for kids. Volunteers set up, expand and support after school clubs at existing after school program locations.
Description:
ASAP recruits volunteers to assist existing after school programs and organize new after school clubs. ASAP serves as a clearinghouse for information on after school programs by providing a print and online program directory, as well as a telephone hotline.
History:
ASAP was started in 2002 under the direction of Marciene Mattleman, who serves as its President. Dr. Mattleman also founded Philadelphia Futures and Philadelphia Reads. The organization is associated with the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. Jenny Hamilton joined ASAP as Executive Director in June 2004.
