The TriCounty Community Network (TCN) builds relationships among organizations, community members and businesses through advocacy, information sharing and education to improve health, social and environmental conditions within the TriCounty area.
Description:
Our purpose is to coordinate human services, offer assistance in solving identified community concerns and to improve service to those in need. Specific purposes of the network are:
- To network to improve services,
- To engage in community planning through education,
- To advocate for constructive change at all levels; and
- To function as a clearing house for and exchange of information and resources concerning health, social and environmental issues.
We are dedicated to a policy of non-discrimination because of race, gender, creed, color, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, national origin of ancestry and disability or handicap. TCN provides a free, confidential information and referral service known as First Call and is a partner agency of the United Way of Western Montgomery County providing administrative assistance to www.VolunteerWay.org. TCN also hosts two websites: www.busyteens.org and www.dvresources.org.
History:
TCN was formed in December 2005 after the merge of two community collaborative organizations, the TriCounty Health Partnership (TCHP) and the Tri-County Interagency Consortium (TCIC). As TCIC was a formal 501(c)3, the TCHP merged with TCIC, accepting the articles of incorporation as appropriate for the new TCN. Bylaws revisions and an official name change filed with the state of Pennsylvania were completed to establish TCN. The purpose of the merge was to form one strong collaborative in this TriCounty area, to address the mission and purpose stated above.
