The mission of the Health Network of The Chester County Hospital is to provide high quality of care, consistent with identifiable health care needs of Chester County residents and within the constraints of sound fiscal management, as well as the education of health care professionals and the community.
Description:
The Chester County Hospital has grown from a ten bed dispensary established in 1892 to a provider of a full network of health care services including a 238 bed, not for profit, acute care hospital; home care and many ancillary services.
History:
Established in 1892, ours was Chester County's first hospital and was initially located across from Marshall Square. Thanks to the generosity of Pierre S. duPont of Wilmington, Delaware construction for the present day Chester County Hospital began in 1924. It so happens that the brother of Mr. duPont's chauffeur had been hospitalized in our facility in 1916. Mr. duPont was so impressed with the care his friend had received, that he donated almost one million dollars to construct an entirely new hospital.
