Mothers in Charge is comprised of mothers, aunts, sisters, and grandmothers who have lost their children and loved ones to violence. The mission of Mothers in Charge is to work to eradicate the number of violent crimes that plague our city, in addition to providing violence prevention, intervention, and education.

History:
Mothers in Charge was started in the spring of 2003 by Dorothy Johnson Speight. Dorothy's 24 year old son was shot seven times over a parking space. Dorothy choose to channel her energy in a positive way to effect a change and save other mothers and families from the pain and grief her family endured.
