The mission of Family Friends is to provide support and companionship to families of children with special needs and to older adults.

Description:
Family Friends now has a new program called Kids In Care! We are looking for mentors (not age specific) to work in residential facilities with children. We would like some experience, either having worked in this setting or having been a resident in this setting. Extensive training required, increased stipend as well. Please contact us if you'd like to help!

Family Friends is dedicated to using our community's own resources, older adults, to provide caring, supportive relationships for children and families. The Family Friends program matches volunteers (age 50+) with school age children who have special needs, including autism, developmental delays, and multiple disabilities. The volunteers love children and want an ongoing relationship with a child and family. They visit their children at home weekly to read, play, sing, share, and more.

History:
In Bucks County, it is supported by the Bucks County Behavioral Health System, the National Council on Aging, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit and private donations. Family Friends is a national organization.
