Pearl S. Buck International is a private non-profit organization with three distinct functions that operate with one common mission of promoting the legacy and dreams of Pearl S. Buck - her commitment to improving the quality of life and expanding opportunities for children, promoting and understanding the values and attributes of other cultures, the injustice of prejudice, and the need for humanitarianism throughout the world.

Description:
Welcome House* Adoption Program provides children throughout the world with the opportunity to grow in a loving permanent family through adoption and support services.

Pearl S. Buck International Programs provide humanitarian assistance to children and families in China, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The Pearl S. Buck House and Historic Site preserves a National Historic Landmark and promotes the legacy of Pearl S. Buck through tours, educational programs and events.

History:
In 1941, Pearl S. Buck organized the East and West Association to promote greater intercultural understanding. She established Welcome House in 1949 the first adoption agency specializing in the placement of biracial children. In 1964, the Pearl S.Buck Foundation was created to address the issues of poverty and discrimination faced by children fathered, and often abandoned, by American servicemen in Asia, Since 1991, the work of each of these organizations, as well as the preservation her house and historic site, has been united under a single organizaiton, Pearl S. Buck International.
