The LifeModem Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to providing cancer research funding and works to increase the presence of African American investigators in basic and clinical research.
Description:
Key components:
- Research - The LifeModem Foundation's core initiative is to support basic and clinical research that intends to further the understanding of the African American community's propensity for developing cancer.
- Awareness - Increase the African American community's knowledge of its overwhelming susceptibility to cancer through educational outreach. Other elements of awareness and education include providing information about healthy lifestyle alternatives, such as physical fitness and effective diet options to reduce cancer risks.
- Scholarship - promotes academic development by encouraging post baccalaureate students interested in science or medicine to pursue advanced careers in cancer-related research. This is accomplished through financial support in the form of annual fellowships.
