To improve the quality of life in Delaware by promoting knowledge and appreciation of gardening, horticulture and conservation. We help transform urban and rural landscapes throughout the state by putting our mission into action.
Description:
We are a membership based non-profit organization dedicated to greening initiatives. We have education programs for adults and children. We do lectures, sponsor trips and have hands on workshops. We sponsor community gardens and a street tree program. We have inspirational demonstration gardens around our facility and do public landscapes throughout the city. We sponsor the Wilmington City Gardens contest and many other events.
History:
The Delaware Center for Horticulture was founded in 1977 by volunteer members of the Garden Club of Wilmington. The original location was on Market Street in downtown Wilmington. In 1992, DCH moved to their current location in Trolley Square. The building was formerly a Parks Department Facility.
