Joseph's People Chapters are 100% Volunteer groups that are dedicated and committed to offering support, guidance, and job counseling services to the people of our community who are unemployed or are seeking full employment. We do so without regard to the religious affiliation or lack of religious affiliation of those seeking our help. We are a faith based ecumenical mission.

Description:
Joseph's People is dedicated to helping workers who are either unemployed or underemployed obtain a job that provides a family supporting income. We help people to rebuild their lives and return to work successfully from the pain of being without a job to support themselves and their families. ALL of the people who work in Joseph's People groups are volunteers. They are dedicated to helping you. Our work includes such activities and services as:

  1. Networking. Share information and resources among members.
2 Newsletters containing employment opportunities, helpful suggestions, news about companies that are hiring, trends in employment, sources for information, and resources such as health and life Insurance, job hunting resources, training resources, food resources, etc.
  1. A Resource Guide that lists training, education, job hunting resources, including online resources, health and life insurance, emotional help, emergency and food resources, housing, repairs, and any other items thought to be of assistance.
  2. Review, critique, and redraft resumes.
  3. Provide counseling on job search, interviewing, and preparing an action plan.
  4. Emotional support and counseling.
  5. An automated job resource data bank containing jobs specifically provided to Joseph's People from helpful employers and our member network.
  6. Counseling on financial problems and personal family budgets.
  7. Two meetings each month for networking, and speakers providing expert information on the latest job hunting tips.
  8. Prayer support within the ministry and from other church & parish groups. Coordinate resources within the parish or church organization that can assist the people with items such as food and clothing.
  9. Act as a bridge between those in need and church or parish community members who are either in business themselves or have access to employment opportunities. Volunteers make appeals for jobs from the pulpit and through published lists of job searchers placed in bulletins and handed out to church members.

  10. History:
We are an Ecumenical support Mission that began at St. Joseph Church in Chester County in February of 1995. Since that time, we have helped more than 2,200 people to recover from the loss of their jobs. We aspire to establish Joseph's People missions throughout the Philadelphia area. There are presently 5 Chapters serving more than 350 people. Joseph's People, Ltd. is a chartered IRS 501(c)(3) Pennsylvania non-profit corporation/IRS 501.

It does not matter where you live, what religion you are or are not, how long you have been out of work, or what kind of work you need. All are welcome.

Joseph's People chapters provide their services free of charge. We do ask that when you get that new job, you help someone else find a position of employment.
