We need the pen scanner for our children’s program. Many times when a child losses a parent by death, the surviving parent or guardian doesn’t give the child a picture of the deceased to hold onto. The adults often say “I will hold onto it until they get older and can appreciate the picture”. The children do not have many memories to “hold in their hearts”. The surviving parent or guardian often is not aware of the ability to make a copy of a picture at a local office supply store. When the suggestion is made for this activity, the adult is reluctant for fear that “the picture will be destroyed by the machine”. Having the pen readily available, the picture or copies of letters can be scanned right there in the home satisfying the adults’ concerns and satisfying the need of the child. |
