Historic Yellow Springs Volunteer Opportunities
Last updated on July 7, 2008

Volunteers have been the backbone of the organization since its founding in 1974 and continue to be involved at all levels and in all activities.
Tour Guides -Guides are needed to conduct tours of the village for HYS Elderhostel program participants, adult and student groups, and for special programs throughout the year. After a basic training course, volunteer guides develop their own interpretive tour based on the training materials and their particular area of interest.
Archives - We are continually developing and organizing our archives. Volunteers are needed to help with research, filing, and sorting. Yellow Springs has a fascinating history, here's your chance to delve into the details.
Event Receptionist/Host - During special events and programs, volunteers greet visitors, take admission, and answer questions. Volunteers are usually needed on weekends and in the evenings, plus weekdays during our two-week Art Show.
Major Events - Volunteer committees stage several major events each year, including: Art Show (April/May); 5K Race (June); Antiques Show (October); and Recycle Your Art Show (November). Enthusiastic new committee members are always welcome
Community, Family and Cultural Events - Do you love music, entertainment and theater? The Yellow Springs Cultural Committee would love to have your help with the following: Jazz at the Springs (June); Sundaes on Sunday (June, July, August); and Children's Holiday Party (December).
Grounds Upkeep - Volunteers are needed to supplement the work of our grounds crew to interpret, maintain, and protect our 145 historic acres.
Office Support - seal and label various HYS mailings or data entry on an as-needed basis. These volunteers are generally needed Monday-Friday,between 9am & 4pm.
