ACAP promotes stable environments for children by offering quality child care, parenting education, and resources for families in South King County.

Description:
ACAP carries out it's mission through the following programs: Child Care for infants one month to 6 years old at our site on J Street in Auburn with a special emphasis on subsidized child care for low to moderate income families and teenage parents; Head Start for 3-4 years old; Special Needs Child Care for children with special developmental, emotional or behavioral needs; and the APPLE Parenting Education Program which teaches positive parenting techniques as an alternative to spanking or raising your voice to discipline children. APPLE Parenting also is offered in Spanish for Latino families

History:
In 1970 a group of community minded religious leaders in Auburn met to find ways to help families become or stay employed. They believed that providing good child care was one of the solutions. Auburn Christian Action Day Care Association was incorporated and the focus became safe, affordable child care for low to moderate income families. The child care was provided in churches for nine years, until the present site was secured and two buildings set up. A third building was added ten years later. Therapeutic Child Development (now Special Needs Child Care) and the APPLE Parenting Education Programs were added about this time. With the expansion of services to include other social services for families, the name was changed to ACAP Child and Family Services and we became a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency.
